Thanksgiving, Better Days Will Come

Thankful

When we look back at 2020, it may be difficult to feel much gratitude.

We'll all remember a global pandemic that has already killed 1,430,000 people, 268,000 in the US alone; shuttered businesses, large and small; record levels of unemployment; tragic stories every week about refugee children separated from parents, mass shootings, racist and transgender attacks; and a country contentiously divided. But, better days will come.

There are, now and always, reasons to give thanks.

(Hint: it's not because some disgruntled Europeans invaded North America 380 years ago.)

By now, most of us know someone who has had COVID-19 and many of us know someone who died from it. To all the friends and family suffering from that devastating loss, we send more than "thoughts and prayers;" we send sympathy and regret and love. But be assured, better days will come.

Many people have lost their jobs and are facing food insecurity, homelessness, mental health challenges. We reach out to them as well. There are people today struggling who were not a year ago. And, many of the people who were struggling then are in even more dire circumstances now. But again, better days will come.

Although we can't be with our extended families this year, we are grateful for every person that we care about who is still here and still healthy. Better days will come. And so will another Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, we've learned how to pull together for the greater good. We've had more time with those we live with (for better or sometimes worse). We've found new ways to connect, new activities to enjoy together even apart.

At B Direct, we're so fortunate to have the opportunity to do great work for truly great clients. This year, we've added to our team and continue to count our blessings that we're lucky enough to be in a position to achieve business success through creative endeavors. We genuinely appreciate this and strive to make every project and every client relationship interesting, educational, and joyful.

And, even so, better days will come.

How do we know this? Because people, including our clients, colleagues, friends, and family, have enormous potential for good. You can choose to see the best or the worst in people. We choose to see the best.

And that's why ... better days will come.
