The agency received a 6x9 direct mail package from none other than "big blue" (that would be IBM to you and me).

It started with a simple envelope, first class presort indicia. Our Creative Director & Queen B's name was even spelled correctly (big kudos for that). 

But, things got a little funky once we opened it.

There was a color card inside, no letter, no reply device. It promised "Better results. Bigger returns." and suggested that we'd find "Innovative ideas for analytics" if we attended IBM's exclusive free event. 

So far, so good, although we firmly believe that all envelopes deserve letters.

But, once we turned the card over, we were surprised to find that it was actually a postcard — complete with its own indicia and a big, empty space for our name and address.

What happened? 

Was the indicia expired? 

Were we on the "b-list" like second-tier guests at a wedding? 

Even if we weren't in the business (and since the event was targeting marketing professionals, I would argue that most of the recipients were indeed in the business), the un-addressed postcard inside the envelope looked silly, like a mistake. 

Which is what we assume it was.

The B's at B Direct have to give this one a thumbs-down. Sorry folks, hope that doesn't sting too bad.
